But it likely isn’t the multiplayer mode for ‘The Last Of Us Part II’
The Last Of Us Part II developer Naughty Dog has teased that it is working on a new game.
The tease came from the studio’s co-president Neil Druckmann, who shared a list of new job positions available at the company. “Come work with us! We’re making something very cool!,” he said on Twitter.
The tweet also included a total of 35 job availabilities, with major roles such as producer, character concept artist, video editor, game designer, and quality assurance tester. One listing for Level/Environment Designer (Single Player) however, suggests that the unnamed project will not be The Last Of Us Part II’s multiplayer spin-off.
Factions, which was scheduled to release alongside The Last Of Us Part II as its multiplayer counterpart, was cut because it “grew beyond an additional mode that could be included with our enormous single-player campaign”.
Naughty Dog has since said that players will “eventually experience the fruits of our team’s online ambition”, and that the studio is “excited to share more when it’s ready”. The new project is also like not a DLC pack for The Last Of Us Part II as the studio has announced that it has “no plans” for an expansion.
Naughty Dog’s next gaming project remains a mystery to the public. The studio is, however, involved in several non-gaming projects as HBO has greenlit a TV adaptation of the first The Last Of Us game.
Production on next year’s movie adaptation of Uncharted – another Naughty Dog classic – which stars Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg also wrapped in October. The film is currently scheduled to release on July 16, 2021.
The Last Of Us Part II recently clinched the Game Of The Year Award during The Game Awards, and was awarded the top spot in NME’s 20 Best Games of 2020 list.
