“Hyper Scape will change the way we watch video games”
Ubisoft has announced a new multiplayer battle royale game titled Hyper Scape, which aims to be the future of interactive streaming.
Hyper Scape is an urban futuristic free-to-play shooter and is coming to PC, PS4 and Xbox One, however no release date has been announced yet.
The brand new IP will share similar traits to the genre, such as a high player count – max of 100 for now – and a constantly shrinking safe zone. However, some new elements have been added into the mix to set Hyper Scape apart from other games in the genre.
The game’s main unique feature seems to be its integration with streaming platform Twitch. With this, Ubisoft aims to provide a different experience for both players and viewers by allowing audiences to influence elements of a match in various ways.
Viewers will be able to vote on in-game events such as unlimited ammo or low-gravity gameplay. To encourage users to watch streams, Ubisoft has created a battle pass which can be levelled up by tuning in to Hyper Scape as a viewer.

On the player side of things, 100 Contenders will be pit against each other with the ultimate goal of winning the Crown. Players can do so by eliminating all other players, or seeking out the Crown on the map and holding onto it for 45 seconds.
Apart from an arsenal of weapons that can be picked up, players can also attain lootable abilities called Hacks. These include the ability to lay down mines, go invisible or perform a slam attack.
The official description for Hyper Scape reads: “It’s 2054 and technology is everywhere. It helps people survive the day-to-day grind – from neural networks to cybernetic augmentations to burgeoning AIs – but for the bottom 90%, living is tough. Many work for mega corporations to survive – these are the lucky ones”.
“There is only one way to rise to the top…one way to change your lot in life and achieve something better: Win the crown in an intense battle royale in the virtual world of Hyper Scape”.
A technical test has begun on PC today (July 2) and will run until July 7. Players can be awarded trial access to Hyper Scape by watching streams of the game via Twitch.
In related news, Amazon recently released a multiplayer shooter titled Crucible, which has returned to a closed beta format less than two months later. The developer Relentless Games announced that the reason for this was to “focus on providing the best possible experience for our players”.
