‘Yakuza’ brawler ‘Streets Of Kamurocho’ is returning to Steam

The anniversary celebration game is back for a limited time on Steam

Sega and RKG Studios have announced on Twitter that they are re-releasing the Yakuza-themed Streets Of Rage brawler, Streets Of Kamurocho, on Steam.

The re-release comes as part of Sega’s 60th Anniversary, and specifically a celebration of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the developers behind the Yakuza series. The game will be available from Nov 13 at 5pm GMT/9am PST until the same time on Nov 16.

The mash-up of Streets of Rage 2 and Yakuza was first released earlier in the year and features pixel art versions of Kiryu and Majima as playable characters, who taking to the streets to stop the violence on the streets by beating people up. The game also supports local co-op.

Sega’s 60th Anniversary has promised that each studio week will feature exclusive interviews, streams, competitions and deep dives into the Sega Archives. RGG Studio previously released an interview with Like a Dragon director Ryosuke Horii.

This is a time-limited release, so be sure to grab your copy from Steam, which will make a perfect chaser to the Western localisation Yakuza: Like a Dragon, which has been released on Xbox Series X and S. The game is also set for release on PS5 in early 2021.

In other Sega news, the developer’s parent company, Sega Sammy, recently sold off their Japanese arcade business to Genda Inc. Sege Sammy reported that players at their arcades have “declined remarkably” this year, with the companying facing a “significant loss” in the previous quarter.
